I have been looking at the world from the outside in since I‘ve been gone. It got me wondering, what is wrong with us? Why is humanity so frustratingly shitty?
I see there are plenty of amazing things we have done, but recently, I have been hit with the seemingly endless selfishness, stupidity, hypocrisy and mindless violence humans are capable of. Gang rapes in India, anti-immigrant riots in the UK, war in Ukraine, war in Palestine, an athlete getting burnt fucking alive by her ex boyfriend over some materialistic bullshit, a has-been band charging nearly £500 for a cheap cash grab reunion… People cry about it, but they still pay up. People denounce things, but nothing changes. People have principles, but only when they fit their agenda. What the fuck is wrong with us?
Are we just inherently shitty? Inherently selfish? Or is it this thing people came up with… „Ca-peh-ta-lism“ that has made us so? I don‘t know, other systems do not really seem to have worked either.
As I sit here on the other side, I can’t help but feel hopeless. Like I wish an asteroid would hit us right in the fucking face and wipe us off this Earth we don’t deserve to live on. But maybe there is a glimmer at the end of tunnel. Maybe the light shines brightest in the depths of the bleakest darkness. Maybe every thing that is broken can be mended.
In the meantime, I sometimes I wish I was never human at all.
