First dates can be hard, but they can also be so great they’ll be the last first date you’ll ever have.

This one was in Pacific Café ☕️

Sometimes it feels like you could disappear and it wouldn’t make a difference. But people notice small things, you have an impact even if you don’t know it.

Tuxedo Style 🤵

Tuxedo is a funk band that always have been a huge inspiration for me. Their head bopping beats, addicting bass lines and smooth vocals always hit the spot perfectly. I always wanted to try and take inspiration from them so I decided to do a jam in their style to train a bit like I did with the Nujabes jams. It took years of learning, but I’m finally getting these vibes out of my head into tracks!

Don’t mind me 🐱🚗💨

I spent a lot of time recently thinking about what DFE means to me. After having made a push to promote it, I started feeling lost.

DFE isn’t about volume, following trends or being a slave to an algorithm.

It’s about finding meaning in a world that feels broken, it’s about mending the cracks in our realities, it’s about accepting things might never be the same.

And I’m working on fixing it from the very beginning.

This is a snippet of the story (and music) to come.

Ok bye

I don’t know how I fit in most of the time. It’s like the world around is miles away even though I am there. Maybe I don’t belong.

And it only took dozens of hours!!

I drive an old Mk2 Polo named Karo. She has crunchy old juiced up speakers that clip easily on bad mixes. Karo just reveals issues modern speakers won’t. She’s wise like that. She handles pro tracks just fine though, so it’s always been a way for me to check if a song was good enough to go.

Bless you Karo 🚗

This one’s ready I think!

Time for another update! Long time no post. If you’re new here, I’m Doran! I make music and animations :).

A LOT happened in the last couple months. I started my own marketing campaign, landed a gig at Arrival Gallery (my first!), got some new gear, made prints of my art and even sold one! (the very first version of Ora the blue cat!)

Figuring out how I’d play live was really fun and still in progress, the gig was so nice it made me realise maybe I could get myself a bit more out there. So I took out my pedal from the closest, got it fixed (a bit of soldering was needed 🤓). And now I have a kickass setup to share in my next livestreams and … I am doing another gig at Arrival in October!

Will post more about it closer to the date :)

Oh and that marketing campaign has been going fairly well, considering I’m new to it and doing it DIY. It’s been a fun new challenge to learn the technical marketing side of things, but I went from 1-10 monthly listeners on Spotify to 600+ in a couple months :D!

Thanks so much for everyone supporting this project :)

Part of why I love synthwave so much is because it makes me feel like this. I think I’m finally getting the look and sound of it right.
