Numbers aren't everything, but they tell a story.

Not long ago, I got some free feedback from a big producer as part of their marketing campaign. They were adamant they were there to advise, support and potentially invest in underdog artists. So I answered their form, gave them all the details of my strategy to grow and my budget and how I would do it. I told them I wanted to be heard, that I am ready to do a lot by myself to save cost, and that I didn't care much for money. What I got back was clearly copy pasted, generic advice: focus on your music, practice, hone your skills. I heard this feedback countless times before, and for the first time ever, I didn't believe it.

It became clear to me, more than ever, that promotion was what was holding me back, not the music. I will never stop honing in my craft, but I knew this was not the bottleneck anymore. They just told me that because I didn't tell them what they wanted to hear: that I'd invest thousands to get their own producers and marketers to help me so they can make some money. Still, I am grateful for their feedback, because it helped me understand that I needed to do the opposite of what they were saying. And I did. I kept on honing my craft, but I also devised a marketing campaign. I invested some money, and a lot of time learning a new craft:

✋ "advertising" 🤚

Like always, I did it DIY style: A to Z. Made the ads, the videos, created the ad sets, set the audience, the landing page, conversion metric setups... Followed advice from @andrew.southworth , and also increased my presence online consistently... Well, my streams went up ten fold, my listeners thirty fold... My followers pretty much everywhere have been rising like they never have after months of stagnation. It's all relative to my own journey, it's not like I am going viral or anything, but hey, I am so happy and grateful for you all. Finally, I feel like my music isn't going into an endless void. People are enjoying it, and that's all I ever wanted.

Returning to Pacific Café.

I wrote this song and made the art thinking about my first date with my now wife. It felt like I peered into another, colourful world, far from the black and white from before. I had to go back, and stay there, forever. That is how the entire world around my music came around, the colour schemes, the themes, the artist name... Which all led to my first EP, where it all began again. I broke into a coloured synth pop dream world, a chance to start again and process the reality around me, and I am never turning back. In the new album, we'll explore this new world, together.

I have been having lots of fun crafting this new album I am working on (The Broken Album). This one is a synth pop song called The Barrista. It tells how success may not be everything in life, and trying again and again is a necessary pain to finding oneself.
